Dragons basketball season

With 1 game left of this season our all-girls basketball team have had lots of success, winning all games except for one. Well done to this Year 5/6 team and best of luck for your final game this week. 

A special mention to their support team of parents, managers and coaches, especially Jack, Alena and Di. We couldn't do this without you.

Interschool cross-country running

Rāhina te 7 o Mahuru 

Our HES cross-country team competed against the top runners in our cluster (8 schools). We all ran our hearts out in the 2 kilometre course at the Hamilton Gardens. It was a tough competition but all students showed great team spirit and sportsmanship.

Hockey at Hamilton East School

Hockey is a popular winter sport at Hamilton East School and every year we enter three teams in the Waikato Hockey Association Junior Division competition.

The Hamilton East Geckos are our youngest players - usually year 2/3 and year 4's who have never played before.

The Hamilton East Kiwis are our middle team, year 3, and 4 new players, and year 5's and 6's who have never played before.

The Hamilton East Tuataras are our senior team, year 5's and 6's who have played before.

Each team practices once in the week, either at lunch time or after school, and has a match at the Gallagher Hockey centre by the Lake.

Games are fun and about learning the skills, rules and how to play as a team. We are so lucky to have had wonderful parent volunteers coaching and reffing our teams.

At the end of the season the teams dress up in fancy dress for the finals and may have a team picnic or celebration. Have a look at our photos below of the 2018 and 2017 seasons.
